THE VILLAGE OF ILHABELA

 

Villa Bella of the eighteenth century is now the cultural center. Stand out old buildings, such as chain, the church and the old city. The former Hotel Sao Paulo has become a nice shopping where alternate design houses, clothing and services.

The Church Our Lady of Help is one of the most important operation: 
daily from 6:00 to 20:00 Admission. Inaugurated in 1803, the Church of Ilhabela 
is situated on a hill at the foot of the Morro do Baepi. 
The interior is large with 40m long and 10m wide, with greater emphasis on 
image of the patron saint painted in gold. The chapel was built of stone, shells and oil 
whale, and the colonial style typical of the late seventeenth and early eighteenth century. 
The marble floor of the church is founded in Spain, Minas Gerais and Santa Catarina and the lining of the ship, painted in oil, plays Our Lady of Help. The ornament is in plaster replicas of Old Cathedral, in Sao Paulo. Beside the thirty-five steps leading to church are the images of St. Sebastian, St. Benedict and St. Paul. The paintings in the nave and the figures carved on the outside are the work of artist Alfredo Oliani.

Beach Castelhanos 
Located east of Ilhabela, with access only by 4x4 (off-road) or by boat, has an area of approximately 1,500 meters, where is a pond of crystal clear water. About 15 families of fishermen inhabiting the area. There is also access to the Waterfall Cat with a 40 minute walk, as far as it reveals in the woods a waterfall of 50 meters in height. 
For groups of 12 people. Six depart at Land Rover, crossing the Atlantic on a road watered by waterfalls and tropical flora, while the other six people on a sail boat heading to the same beach, stopping at deserted beaches with refreshing ponds and waterfalls. Arriving at the destination are exchanged passengers with the launch of Land Rover for the trip home.

Beach Bonete 
Located south of Ilhabela, access only performed by trail or by boat, is the largest fishing colony isolated from the city with about 60 families. Has approximately 1000 meters in length, with rivers and waterfalls, ideal for surfing. For groups of 06 people, departing from Land Rover to the district Sepituba, where he begins a journey of about 04 hrs to the beach, without too much difficulty because access was an old road connecting the beach to the urban area. On the way across the Atlantic with its wealth of fauna and flora, guests enjoy the waterfalls and the Lage and Sanded, reaching the beach the boat will be waiting for the return.
